Memories by Molly Stewart
I started going to Old Moat Lane Infants School in Withington when I was 5 years old. Let me see. I think it was 1954. I remember I was delighted to have my own peg. It was beneath the picture of an apple and I could reach it. Some time in the course of the day, we had to lean forward on our desks and have a sleep. I couldn’t and still can’t sleep sitting up and so I got very bored. I made some nice friends but some time after that I
was sent away to Abergele Isolation Hospital in North Wales. I had TB. I was there for about 1 year. By the time I got back to school it was the first year of the juniors, so I had to make new friends again. I went on to attend Old Moat Seniors. That was just a little up the road, I lived opposite the school. My Father and Mother are standing in our front garden, with out backs to the school.
